Program Description
With IOB@, we take the Islands of Brilliance experience beyond the studio classroom and into some of Milwaukee’s most exciting spaces. Each workshop immerses students in a unique environment…whether it’s a museum, zoo, or innovation lab…where they’ll explore, learn, and then create using creative programs like Procreate or Stop Motion Studio on an iPad.
By blending technology with hands-on discovery, these workshops offer a fresh, engaging way for neurodivergent students to express their creativity while connecting with the world around them.

From the studio to the screen…turn movement into art.
Step inside the world of professional dance. At IOB@Milwaukee Ballet, students will meet company dancers, watch them perform, and get a behind-the-scenes look at what it’s like to be part of a working ballet company. Then it’s their turn…participants will explore movement in the rehearsal studio, experiencing how motion, expression, and storytelling come together through the body.
Next, we shift into the black box theater, where movement becomes inspiration. Using iPads, students will capture dancers or their own motion and transform it into digital artwork…adding lines, energy, and imagination to bring each moment to life. The result? A dynamic blend of performance and creativity that turns movement into something you can see, shape, and share.

What makes a great zoo exhibit? At IOB@Zoological Society of Milwaukee, students step into the world of exhibit design. After exploring the zoo and learning how habitats are thoughtfully created for both animals and visitors, participants will design their own exhibit for an animal or character of their choice…real or imagined. Using digital tools like Procreate, they’ll bring their ideas to life. The result? A one-of-a-kind exhibit design that reflects how they see the world…wild, thoughtful, and entirely their own.
