Associate Director of Development
Islands of Brilliance (IOB) is seeking an experienced, outgoing, and organized Associate Director of Development to help with the planning and execution of donor cultivation activities, donor communication materials, seasonal fundraising campaigns, and events. This new position will work closely with the Executive Director, Director of Marketing, and our Philanthropy Consultant to plan and execute all aspects of IOB’s fundraising efforts. The position will also provide significant growth opportunities with the ability to contribute to ongoing major grant applications.
Islands of Brilliance Mission:
Islands of Brilliance (IOB) is seeking an experienced, outgoing, and organized Associate Director of Development to help with the planning and execution of donor cultivation activities, donor communication materials, seasonal fundraising campaigns, and events. This new position will work closely with the Executive Director, Director of Marketing, and our Philanthropy Consultant to plan and execute all aspects of IOB’s fundraising efforts. The position will also provide significant growth opportunities with the ability to contribute to ongoing major grant applications.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Support and organize all activities related to donor campaigns, stewardship, and fundraising events
Assist with grant applications by creating support materials, proofing content, and writing assigned segments of applications
Strategize, plan events, and assist in building IOB's relationships with institutional and individual donors
Maintain and manage a growing portfolio of approximately 100 individual donors, including scheduling regular in-person/virtual meetings and other communications
Work with Director of Marketing and CRM Strategist to manage and integrate Neon donor database across all development activities
Handle all gift tracking, tax donation receipts and prompt gratitude communication
Track and report solicitation and fundraising progress
Organize and facilitate event committees
Work with the Director of Marketing to create a cohesive marketing, promotion, and collateral design plan for all events and campaigns
Recruit and provide guidance and supervision for Special Events volunteers and staff
Participate in networking opportunities to broaden IOB’s scope of engagement
Other duties as assigned
Requirements of the Position:

Ability to work independently and as a collaborative, flexible member of the team
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent. Major in English, Communication, Non-Profit, or related field and three years of professional experience in donor relations, stewardship, event planning, or communications; OR any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Ability to coordinate and plan small to large-scale events
Knowledge of marketing, sales, events, relationship building, customer service, philanthropy, and fundraising principles
Superior interpersonal and organization skills are essential, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills; design skills also a plus
Proficient in Google Workplace or Microsoft equivalent
Ability to work evenings and weekends as required
Commitment and Compensation:
Salary Range: $48,000-$60,000
Benefits: Islands of Brilliance offers a total of 26 days of PTO annually to have fun, rest and refuel. We do not currently offer healthcare insurance but can contribute a healthcare stipend to help with monthly premiums.
