Milwaukee Summer Design Workshops

STUDENTS

Target ages: 10-18+

Class Meets Monday thru Friday
July 10, 11, 12, 13, 14

3 times to choose from:
Morning: 8:30am – 9:45am
Midday: Noon – 1:15pm
Afternoon: 4:30pm – 5:45pm

Cost: $325

Workshop Model: Workshops are designed around our students strengths giving them every opportunity to have a happy, successful learning experience. Workshops are limited to eight students. Each student is matched 1 : 1 with a mentor—volunteers from the professional creative services industry. Classes are led by an experienced Special Education teacher, with additional support staff such as a Creative Director, Art Buddy, and SPED Buddy. The experience also incorporates the opportunity for breaks including hands-on art activities and quiet down-time if needed.

Workshop Objective: Students will participate and be introduced to the following learning experiences, social interactions, and technical skill sets:
  • Open social sharing time at the beginning of each workshop
  • Idea and concept development
  • Problem solving
  • Collaboration
  • Sketching
  • Visual Research
  • Design and production using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Time Management
  • Project update sharing
  • Presentation Skills
Over the course of the five 75 minute workshops, student/mentor teams will concept, sketch, design, and present their final poster. Posters will be shipped to students via mail, generally arriving two weeks after completion of the workshop.

Scholarships: Through local grant support, we have $200 scholarships available—just check the scholarship box in registration and we’ll follow up with details!
